PERSIST aims at developing an open and interoperable ecosystem to improve the care of cancer survivors. The proposed ecosystem consists of a Big Data platform — built on top of an open infrastructure provided by one of the partners — and a health app for patients.
Main building blocks include a multi-modal sensing network running on a smartphone to collect data about patient well-being; predictive models derived from anonymised health data of thousands of breast and colon cancer patients; and the modules required to develop a decision support system that will use those predictive models.
- Personalised recommendations for shorter recovery, fewer adverse effects and a higher-quality care plan.
- More effective strategies for lifestyle changes and return-to-work.
- Improved disease prognosis by predicting individual patient trajectories.
